This Earth

What is pouring down on us
Upon this earth
Which was made so perfect
Ashes and rock
Pouring down
Upon the earth
What has happened
To bring all this about
What has man done
To the earth that
God so gave him
To nourish
To plant
To harvest
What has man done
That brought all this about
We seek
And
We search
Out the answers
Can anyone know
Can anything be done
Before it is too late
We have become a people of technology
A people with much wisdom
A people too clever for their own good
We know it all
We think
Yet, all is crumbling
Before our very eyes
Crumbling
Ashes and rock
Ashes and rock
